Very timely post for me as I have been doing a lot of work with YouTube at my institution lately - mostly around finding and using resources.

I would add a sixth affordance to using YouTube (or other external service like blip.tv) for hosting video content - new features.

New (useful) features and enhancements to YouTube appear almost daily and keeping up with the rate of technological enhancements is something most institutions could never match. With the ability to annotate, add subtitles, deep link, etc, the platform improves and develops at a rate that I, as a developer, could never keep up with on my own.
